Tasting Spoon

Privacy policy

Tasting Spoon collects no personal data. You don’t need an account, the app shows no ads and doesn’t track what you do.

In short

  • No account and no sign-in
  • No ads, analytics or tracking
  • No internet connection: all content and images are inside the app
  • What you save stays on your own device (and on iPhone and iPad in your own iCloud)

What the app stores on your device

  • FavouritesThe ingredients you mark with the heart.
  • Notes and statusWhat you write about a pairing, and whether you tested, confirmed or rejected it.
  • Appearance and languageYour choice of automatic, light or dark, and of Dutch or English.

This data lives in the app on your device. We can’t access it and the app doesn’t send it to us. Delete the app and it’s gone. You can also delete notes in the app under More → Notes → Delete all.

On iPhone and iPad, favourites, pantry and notes follow you to your other devices with the same Apple Account through iCloud. That goes through Apple; we can’t access it. If iCloud Backup is on, iOS may also include this data in your device backup.

On Android the data stays on the device. If Google backup is on, Android may include it in your device backup. Google manages that backup, not us.

Export and import

When you choose Export under Notes, the app creates a file and opens your device’s share sheet. You decide where it goes, for example Files, Google Drive or Mail. The app itself sends nothing.

With Import, you pick a file yourself. Its contents are added to the notes on your device.

Apple and the App Store

You download Tasting Spoon from the App Store. Your Apple Account, downloads and payments are covered by Apple’s privacy policy.

If Share With App Developers is on (Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements), Apple may show us crash reports and usage statistics without your name, email address or anything else that identifies you. You can turn it off there too.

Google and Google Play

On Android you download Tasting Spoon from Google Play. Your Google Account, downloads and payments are covered by Google’s privacy policy.

If you have turned on sharing usage and diagnostics data on your device, Google Play may show us crash reports and statistics without your name, email address or anything else that identifies you. You can turn this off in your device settings.

If you email us

If you send us an email, we only use your address and message to reply. We don’t share your email with anyone and don’t keep it longer than needed.

Your rights

Because the app collects no data about you, there is nothing for us to show, change or delete. For an email you sent us, you can ask to see or delete it. If you disagree with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, or to the authority in your own country.

Who is responsible

Tasting Spoon (Proeflepel in Dutch) is made by Lucas Knijn in the Netherlands.

Changes

If the app starts handling data differently, we’ll update this policy before the new version is in the App Store or on Google Play.
